Mamorukun Recurse is an updated and remastered release of the 2008 arcade Shoot 'em up.
It's cute and Anime as heck.
This is also a solid port containing a story mode and extra content.
This is a single credit run of the arcade mode with Nowa.
The main mechanic is "Curse Bullets" powered by each character's attached spirit.
A quick tap fires a "small curse bullet" that lands directly in front of you.
Touching the deployed curse field stops bullets
and increases your attack power for a limited time.
Holding the button charges a "large curse bullet" that flies far.
Cursed enemies continuously take damage and any nearby enemies yield currency.
It's very fun, there are so many strategies to score points,
and the difficulty can be as hard as you want it to be.
The entire arcade mode is timed, so you can only score for so long.
It's strange to play a game that wants you to sit there and chain points
on an enemy but doesn't want you to do it too much, cause
if you chain points, you will run out of time and your run is shortened.
I have maybe a minute left at the final boss and I spammed my
attacks to quick kill 2 whole bosses, it's a bit of a contradiction,
but I can appreciate a game that doesn't overstay it's welcome
and at least you can Speedrun it.
I think the price of $24 is a little high and this is probably due
to the limited run physical release and the overhyping of this port,
in fact most anime games are overpriced, (just sayin)
but there is a slight steam discount going on now.
