The end of September ushers in the start of the spawning season for Southern Appalachian Brook Trout. In this video, a male is staking his feeding lane as he acts aggressively towards rainbow trout, and goes into an active and furious feeding frenzy to gain energy for the coming weeks. Soon, females with eggs will be pairing up with the brightly colorful males as they begin their spawning. GSMA's Gary Wilson is actively working in the streams, capturing the process from beginning to end in order to showcase the spawning season in the next Smoky Mountain Explorer film called "Land of Falling Water."
