What does it take to 'make it' as an artist? Is it talent, education, family background, or wealth? What if you are from a very disadvantaged background and facing discrimination? Today I want to tackle this very difficult topic: how to make it in the art world coming from a humble background.
Sometimes you could be excluded from certain opportunities because of who you are. not your art or your capabilities. But you are not alone in this. As a visible minority myself, I totally feel for you! I want to share with you some of my experiences, hopefully that can help you get motivated to keep on working towards your goals.
Here is my 4-step strategy:
1 Identify and acknowledge the issue/bias/discrimination
2 Don't hide your identity
3 Incorporate it in your art
4 Turn your weakness into your strength
P.S thanks for being a part of this community! We're now over 3,000 subscribers in this channel. A big thank you to everyone!
