This video shows a reconstruction of a recipe from the Rasaratnākara for making rubies. In the previous two videos, we showed our recreation of the recipe for "fish black" (matsyakajjala) (see: youtu.be/cygCZkpnn6M ) and its application to various stones ( youtu.be/sssc83UGoHQ ). The dye did not take that well, so in this video, we show an attempt to improve the dye adhesion, using a recipe from Graeco-Egyptian recipe literature: The Stockholm Papyrus.
