The 2024 Olympics is here and I wanted to build something to commemorate the games. In the Ancient games, a winning athlete would receive an olive branch crown. So I thought it would be fun to construct a gold one out of wire and some metal tape. For this build, I used: thin gauge wire, fencing wire, and gold metal heat shield tape. You may also need the following tools: a rotary tool with various bits, a heat gun, and an Exacto knife or box cutter. Fact #8 - From 1921-1948, artists competed in the Olympics. There were events in painting, sculpting, architecture, writing, and music.
Fact #9 - Until 1912, first-place Olympic metals were made of solid gold. They are 92.5 percent silver, with about 6 grams of gold coating.
Fact #10 - The first Winter Olympics was held on January 25, 1924 in Chamonix, France, attracting 10,002 paying spectators.
