Part 2 of the gear pump/lathe filter build series.
I need to get around to replacing the bearings in the lathe, bet before I do that and dedicate week to getting it pulled apart and rebuilt, I need to do something about filtering the gearbox oil. The oil currently is not filtered in any way, so any metal particles stay in the oil and get sloshed into he bearings.
Now that I have a gear pump which I can drive off the motor, I can now look at installing an oil filter to clean up the oil in the gearbox.
The oil filter is a standard automotive oil filter with a M20 x 1.5 thread. All I need to do is make a mount for it. Cheers
