We are building the chain-drive coal door and chute for the 1:20.3 scale Chama coaling tipple. First up, we need to build the chain drive and coal door. This week, part 2, the lifting mechanism.
After a dive into our bins of cast white metal parts, I found two arms left over from a 1/2" scale drop bottom gondola that I cut down and used as the lifting arms for the rods that open the coal door.
The roller chain was bought from Micro-Mark, but is now out of stock. I found another supplier at
shop.sdp-si.com
It's a great product! Works great for many things in large scales.
