To me it seems quite an ommission by Wahoo to not have an easy way to add favourites to my Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt V2 head unit. The Bolt V2 is more like a bicycle SatNav than anything that has come before and it's a fairly standard feature of a SatNav to be able to add favourites or your own Points Of Interest (POI's)
In this video, I take you through how you add them yourself, any location, without having to travel to it, with a custom name.
You will need adb and a Database editer installed -
developer.android.com/studio/command-line/adb
sqlitebrowser.org
The two lines of adb commands that you need are -
adb pull /data/data/com.wahoofitness.bolt/databases/BoltApp.sqlite BoltApp.sqlite
adb push BoltApp.sqlite /data/data/com.wahoofitness.bolt/databases/
Here are the full step by step instructions -
0:00 Intro
0:55 turn the Bolt on
1:22 Save your current location several times to create entries in the Bolt database.
1:38 press the power, up and down buttons at the same time
1:58 connect the Bolt to your computer
2:20 Establish an adb connection to the Bolt v2
2:35 adb pull /data/data/com.wahoofitness.bolt/databases/BoltApp.sqlite BoltApp.sqlite
3:00 Edit the BoltApp.sqlite database (with DB browser from sqlitebrowser.org/)
3:15 Browse the table CloudPoiDao
3:26 Duplicate an entry alter geoHash, poiToken and updateTimeMs
3:51 Rename any entry (fields address and name) and enter the gps coordinates (from Google Maps)
5:19 Save and close the database
5:30 adb push BoltApp.sqlite /data/data/com.wahoofitness.bolt/databases/
5:40 adb reboot
5:59 All done!
