SpaceX is preparing to launch its triple booster Falcon Heavy rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center for just the 12th time to date. The last time one of these rockets flew was in October 2024.

The rocket generates more than 22,819 kN (5.13 million lbf) of thrust at liftoff and will support the launch of Viasat's ViaSat-3 F3 satellite, which will launch into a geosynchronous transfer orbit.

Before SpaceX makes it an even dozen, Spaceflight Now Reporter Will Robinson-Smith takes a look back at the history of the Falcon Heavy, which began flying in 2018.
