For the first time in the history of U.S. crewed spaceflight, NASA is ending a mission early due to the health concerns of an astronaut. On Thursday, January 8, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman announced that the SpaceX Crew-11 mission would end early to allow for an unprecedented medical evacuation.

Logistics for the return to Earth are still being ironed out, but Isaacman and leadership give context and overview to the reason for the early return, what it means for the International Space Station and some bits of information about what happened to the unnamed crew member.
