Over here at the Provincial Archives of Alberta we are making genealogists and researchers dreams come true! And we know you have been waiting...
After weeks of receiving, unpacking, assessing, scanning and rehousing thousands of Alberta’s Vital Statistics records, we’ve finally reached the finish line… well, almost.
Remember those 1905 birth registrations we discovered glued together many years ago? Our team is still carefully hand-scanning each one.
But the good news?
The 1905 births, 1950 marriages and 1975 deaths are now available for order on our website! provincialarchives.alberta.ca/how-to/find-birth-marriage-and-death-records
A reminder for researchers that the original vital statistics registrations are not available for in-person viewing in the Reading Room due to their fragility. Digitization ensures worldwide access while protecting the originals for future generations.
And now that this year’s release of vital statistics registrations is complete, we’ll catch our breath because we get to do it all again next year when the 1906 births, 1951 marriages and 1976 deaths arrive at the Provincial Archives of Alberta in early 2027.
