MrCheeze | Majora's Mask 3D - Laundry Pool SRM Clip theory @MrCheeze | Uploaded July 2020 | Updated October 2024, 3 days ago.
It has long been known in the Majora's Mask community that if you can obtain any mask as Deku in the first cycle, you can use it to transform into a human. However, neither N64 nor MM3D are currently able to obtain any mask at all in first cycle.
Using some MM3D-specific tricks (youtube.com/watch?v=-wlKvsDlm-g, youtube.com/watch?v=BZ3jkC1ZjNo), it's actually possible to SRM in clock town as Deku. One theoretically possible effect of this is to grab the lit torch that spawns only at nighttime in the laundry pool. As demonstrated here, the pushback from carrying the torch is actually enough to clip into Kafei's hideout and obtain Keaton Mask.
Despite the demo, this is still quite far from being usable in practice. The MM3D heap is quite complicated and doesn't reset to a clean state, even on scene changes. Research on it is currently ongoing in the MM3D discord by leoetlino and others.
