On the bench today is a premium 1:64 scale Maisto 2004 Chevy Silverado SS. I’ve also got a little Hot Wheels Toon’d version that I’ll make into a Mini Me. I’m going to convert both of these into a pair of stars and stripes 4th of July tribute trucks for American Independence Day. That requires another big thank you to everyone who participated in my own Canada Day invitational a few days ago. It’s cool that Canada and the US share the same birthday week. Every year!
The Chevrolet Silverado is a range of trucks manufactured by General Motors. Introduced for the 1999 model year, the Silverado is the successor to the long-running Chevrolet C/K model line. Taking its name from the top trim level from the C/K series, the Silverado is offered as a series of full-size pickup trucks, chassis cab trucks, and medium-duty trucks. The fourth generation of the model line was introduced for the 2019 model year. Competing against the Ford F-Series, Ram pickup, Toyota Tundra, and Nissan Titan, the Silverado is among the best-selling vehicles in the United States, having sold over 12 million trucks since its introduction.
Interesting fact: Sitting higher than other consumer vehicles, the Chevrolet Silverado has significantly larger blind spots in which people or other cars are invisible to the driver. According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Silverado is the second most likely car to be involved in a fatal crash.

FYI: All of the Maple Leaf Customs finished projects that are kid-friendly are put in custom blister packs and go to my local Goodwill store where they are given to children for free. If there are parts that can be swallowed, those cars are given as gifts to adult collectors that are fellow enthusiasts.
