Mairans, also called Bors or Bors of the Mairan, were large, sentient, cephalopods. They could feed off of emotions and memories, and were therefore useful interrogators seen in use by Saw Gerrera’s Partisans and the Imperial Security Bureau. The process would mix up their victims' memories, confusing their entire lives, leaving them wondering where, when, or even who they were. This could result in permanent neurological damage or even full on insanity. It’s unclear if all Mairans have this ability, or if Bor of the Mairan was a title for beings like Bor Gullet. The Mairans of Star Wars Legends were said to shun the Force-sensitives of their kind, so Bor might even be a label of shame for their people. #starwars
