This song is the only song Ive written in the last 1.5 years that has taken longer than a week to produce. Ive been working on this one for almost 3 months.
By no means am I any type of expert on this subject, and in fact am quite ignorant to most of its oppressive nature, but recently Ive come into contact with and become close to a few people who are struggling with mental illness. I cant imagine what a consistent and horrible battle that must be. My heart goes out to any one who has loved ones who battle with this, and even more to those who are fighting it themselves.
This song came out of my yearning for understanding in this area. We all deal with our own personal demons, and I am no exception. This song goes out to all those who are putting up a fight to that which ails us. Keep fighting. Keep believing. Keep hoping for the better day.

So, this song came about totally unexpectedly. I had the music to the verses and choruses done before I started on the lyrics, and when I did, it came as a surprise that this song is all about my daughter. When I was in the theater watching 2019s version of Disneys Aladdin and Naomi Scott began singing Speechless, about half-way through the first verse, I knew I would be covering it. What I didnt know was how it would turn out. This is one with which I am very pleased. The vocals during the bridge are by far the highest full-voice vocals Ive ever sung or recorded. By far. Theyre not perfect, but I think they get the emotion across.

Hi there! Im Jason from Magic Jones. Im a drummer who is learning to play guitar and sing. I also own and operate a recording studio called ArtCitySound. I do all my own engineering. I figured having videos to watch along with the music would be a good idea, so I started making my own videos, too.
To me, music means everything. Its magic. It has a power to make us feel like nothing else. To a large degree, it defines who I am. I think there is a power in music to uplift, to heal, and to help us be better humans. Music can help give life meaning. Its almost magic.
