Wow, this song came from an unexpected place. I had my heart set on covering a Neil Diamond song, but when I went to do it, it just didn't feel right - so I started writing and this is what came out. Facing Doubt is an ode to life not going the way we want it to or the way we think it should. From my experience, life has a funny way of making sure that happens. The quote, "Life happens when I was making other plans" seems quite universally applicable. So what to do? Recently, I just shrug my shoulders and write a song about it (while working myself ragged trying to steer this crazy ship!)

So, I just couldnt get the idea of doing this cover out of my head, but this song is too sacred to me to go full-metal and I couldnt quite figure out how to do it right. So, I decided to just go for it and see what came out. Sometimes when I finish a song I am pleased with the result, and sometimes I wish I could do better.
The Little drummer boy represents to me what the ultimate gift to our Savior can be. The Little Drummer Boy doesnt have anything to give, but his drumming - and he got to give that gift to the baby Jesus. May we all give the best of ourselves this Christmas season.

In 2014, I did a music box dancer drum cover, and as of this writing, it has just under a million views. As a celebration of that drum cover, I decided (with the suggestion of my newest patron, Corey) to not only do a drum cover, but to re-create the whole song, updated with guitars and crazy choirs. Man, what do I say about this song? When I started it, the only thing I knew is that the name needed to be Lets Be Honest, and have Mixing Metaphors in the lyrics. Other than that, the slate was clean. What became of it was something entirely unexpected. This song has a ukulele, a horn section, a string section, as well as the usual suspects of rock. Ultimately, you will decide if I went too far. Still working on my songwriting chops.

Im not quite sure what it was, but while I was finishing up my last song, My Little Demon, I heard someone say somewhere, You should cover Zombie. It was almost just incidentally that I heard it, but at that moment, I knew I would be covering it. For some reason, I had to. This is my best work to date, no doubt. It was an honor to cover this song, especially after learning about the meaning behind the song. I hope I did it justice.
