Magda Olivero a Solda (Sülden) part 1
From august 15, 1970 you hear her in Bach: "Oh Haupt voll Blut und Wunden" from his Matthäus Passion. She sings it in Italian: “Io ti staro vincino”. She is accompaned by the churchorgan. I dont know the name of the organist.
Since the seventieth Signor Aldo Busch and his wive, the famous soprano Magda Olivero spended their holidays mostly in a little village in North Italy, near the border of Switserland: Solda. As an old woman at the Tourist Information told me: at the time of their arrival the whole village was thrown in commotion. There was an receptioncommittee so she was welcomed like a queen. Many times Magda Olivero did the inhabitants the pleasure to sing for them. Mostly happened that in the villagechurch during the Sunday choral Mass, and especcially on Maria Assumption and Christmas. Some of these performences are recorded and publiced an a LP: GOP 46. called: Canti Sacri inediti.
That year she visited Solda in the summer as well in the winter, during Chistmas. She sang also Ave Maria (Schubert), Ave Verum (Mozart) Pieta Signora (Stradella) and Adoro te devote (Gounod). All these dates are from the book “Magda Olivero, una voce per tre generazioni”, of her biographer Vicenzo Qattrocchi.
