IDEA, the Indian Dance Educators Association based in the DC metro area is hosting its Biannual dance festival from April 29th - May 2nd, 2021.
With the unusual year we are experiencing, we decided to use it as an opportunity to find ways to bring the global Indian classical dance community together virtually using technology. The theme is the Art of Resilience and the festival is titled - ResiliDance: Embracing the Human Spirit through Dance!
Resilience and the ability to adapt, not only help us survive but also thrive. As an Indian dance community, we are doing what we know the best, which is to use dance as our medium to bridge the pre and post-pandemic world. Our community has to find ways to heal, gather and inspire while rebuilding trust. The Arts Empower! The arts derived from our ancestors help us make those pathways into the future while traversing the journey of life.
Using this to inform our explorations for this festival, we have planned - Master Classes, Panel Discussions as well as Dance inspired films and discussions based on them. We have also planned thematic dance performances by dancers all over the world.
