Maddie & Tae Talk Dixie Chicks: On the Record
Last year, Maddie & Tae turned the country genre on its head with their anti-bro country anthem, “Girl In a Country Song.” And while that single ignited a revolution of sorts (see #saladgate), the cute-and-quirky song was, at its heart, somewhat of a novelty. But on their debut, "Start Here", Maddie (20) and Tae (19) impress beyond their years with bright, compact harmonies, sounding sweet without being too cloying. One of the album’s stand-out tracks is the song “Sierra,” which evokes fun, harmony-filled shades of the Dixie Chicks. So we weren’t too surprised when Maddie & Tae sat down with us for an On the Record, and talked about their favorite album: The Dixie Chicks’ charttopping, multi-platinum effort "Home".
