The new base **14-inch MacBook Pro** is expected to launch with Apple's new **M6 chip**, built using cutting-edge **2nm technology**. The M6 features a larger 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, Neural Accelerators inside the GPU and up to **170GB/s of unified memory bandwidth**, bringing some seriously impressive performance and AI upgrades.
And we might not have long to wait!! Current reports point towards Apple launching the **M6 MacBook Pro in October 2026**, around one year after the M5 model arrived.
However, there is an IMPORTANT catch. The M6 MacBook Pro is currently expected to retain the existing MacBook Pro design. Apple's much bigger OLED, touchscreen and thinner MacBook redesign is being developed separately for its higher-end laptop lineup.
There also aren't expected to be **M6 Pro or M6 Max** chips. Apple is reportedly skipping those higher-end M6 variants as it accelerates development of its next-generation M7 family.
Then there's the **PRICE**. Apple hasn't announced anything yet, but recent Mac price increases and continuing memory constraints mean some estimates currently put the M6 MacBook Pro at around **$1,999**. Until Apple makes it official, though, that price remains speculation.
So is it worth buying a MacBook Pro NOW, or should you WAIT for the new **M6 MacBook Pro**?
