Every day, around one million school lunches are served in Sweden, to children between 6 and 19.
Swedish law states that schools should serve a nutritious meal for lunch – free of charge. Well, there's no such thing as a free lunch, and in this case it's funded by taxes.
The idea is to give children more equal conditions for learning, that no one should go hungry in school.
Hot school lunches are provided to all students aged 6 to 16 and most of the students aged 16 to 19, five days a week.
