On 24 February, it's Swedish Finns’ Day! Time for sauna, of course!
Swedish Finns – one of Sweden's official national minorities – have Finnish roots but live in Sweden: a people with two languages and two cultures. 🇸🇪🇫🇮
They've brought with them a tradition that feels like home: the Finnish sauna. And yes, we know that Finns are better at saunas than we are! Just look at the Finnish word 'sauna' – it's used all over the world! We call it 'bastu' just to spite the Finns.
The culture, traditions and languages of the Swedish Finns – along with those of Sweden’s other national minorities (Jews, Roma, Sami and Tornedalians) – have special protection under Swedish law.
