A Rothko work on paper made its auction debut tonight in The London Sales, presented in partnership with @ritzcarltonyachtcollection, and ignited a thrilling 10-minute bidding battle. The winning bid hit £9 million all in, double the low estimate.

‘Untitled’ from 1959 is one of Rothko’s legendary abstractions. Hovering atop a brilliant ground of yellow, two clouds of white and green emit a shimmering glow on its surface.
