Luigi has won a free mansion in a contest that he never entered, and after telling Mario the good news, the two agreed to meet up in front of it. Luigi takes a flashlight and a map to the mansion with him. When he arrives at the mansion, he realizes that Mario has gone missing and also realizes that the mansion is haunted and filled with ghosts. A small and old scientist named Professor E. Gadd, helps Luigi rescue his brother by giving him a very special vacuum called the Poltergeist 3000 that can be used to suck up ghosts. He also gives Luigi the task to capture all of the ghosts that escaped from his Gallery by sucking them up and turn them into paintings. Can Luigi survive and capture all of the ghosts throughout the Mansion, and rescue Mario, let's find out?
In this part, we begin our ghost busting adventure at the mansion where we will first explore the Foyer until we find the key to the Parlor where we will meet Professor E. Gadd. Then we do a little bit of training with the Poltergeist 3000 and explore the empty Gallery. We then go back up to the mansion to explore around Area 1 where we will capture the following Portrait Ghosts: Neville, Lydia, and Chauncey. We will also collect the Area 2 key from Chauncey.
