A bit of a controversial topic perhaps. 20+ years ago there was a bridge here, but it washed away in a flood. I argue the USFS could put a small log bridge crossing here for safety. Even if it needed repair or even replacing every few years. In fact a woman named Sarah Bishop, who was an experienced backpacker and hiker, was killed near here after falling into the river at a crossing.
Part of the reason for no bridge is budget, part of it is because it requires specific permits, and tools, to build one in a wilderness area like this.
