Discipline, which not many people like, and much more simply hate, because they feel it hits, impacts their freedom. They hate it, which is also fine, because army-alike relation is only for chosen ones. Or, rather - specific people.
Not only a relationship, not even a friendship; it is an ascended pact between two or more people, where everyone follows the leader, and the leader cares about the people. Rejecting carnality, bound by soul.
I could list all the requirements and internal laws they follow, but you wouldn't remember them. In fact, there are so many of them that I don't remember them either. But these people do, they live by these rules.
Very hard to establish such relation; but once you do, you will really love each other, not necessarily in romantic way, but surely in spiritual.
Because it is so complex and demanding kind of love, that's another reason there aren't many people living like that. Still, this is the strongest binding possible, and not always as pleasant:
"...You don't have time for a meeting? Well, that wasn't a question; that was an order."
