"Lost."
I'm an overthinker
So many days I wake up with the thought of what could've been
But if it was a battle I couldn't win then why should it cross my thoughts in the first place
We spoke almost everyday since my birthday
About life, purpose, the things that make you and I nervous
And I really thought I could understand you on a level that was deeper than the surface
And when the summer came and we could finally meet
You hopped in the passenger seat of my grey clio that was almost as old as you were
Yesterday's gone was playing from the CD player cause its one of the only CDs I had, and although you weren't so fond of it, I guess it really brings me back to all the times we spent
Well, not just with you but, all the friends I had around that time
And if it was one night inparticular that I remember so well
It would've had to have been that last night in the city
A warm September's evening with a cool breeze that felt so gentle as it touched my skin
And as I felt stressed out from the day before, we went on a walk to clear our minds
It was in that park that you opened up and we touched on chapters we hadn't wrote yet
Your fears and anxieties of what was yet to come
In an uncertain world that was ever changing
And maybe I was a constant in your life
Someone you could trust, hug and really be yourself around
And I promised that you wouldn't lose me
I promised we'd be closer by March
But then March came and now I never see your name when I'm scrolling through my phone.

"Lost." is the first of a series of poems I wrote called "Lost + Found". This first piece is about losing and growing distant from someone you were once close to. This series was inspired by artists such as Montell Fish and I wanted to express myself in a slightly different way. Music was added by Zuubek and the visuals were done by Capture Films, bringing the piece together.
