Honestly I don't have a ton to say about this one. I wrote it close to 2 years ago by now, and I don't recall much about if I was specifically trying to write something that sounded like this or if I just kind of chased a random vibe and came up with it.
Even though it's a bit simplistic and repetitive, I like how it takes its time getting to the more powerful layered part. Something about this song is where Forlorn really starts to feel like a journey to me. There's a quiet tension to the early map that eventually springs open into a few setpiece fights.
The song actually got its debut in Clippy's "Crate Expectations" WAD in Map 29. It's used to a rather comical effect IMO, the map is a bit silly and you should just see it for yourself.
