I started this project before Christmas and have only just gotten around to finishing it off. Enjoy.
The continuous effect was created using lots of teleporting, and an upside down set because the players head rotation is limited to 180 degrees in the x direction.
There were a number of lighting issues on both the blocks and items. I fixed some of them using glowstone instead of stone and in resource packs. The shading on the rails almost ended this project but thanks to a number of helpful people on twitter I realised I could adjust the brightness on some of the rails to effectively remove the shading.
I added the minecart sound in after though it could have been done in game. Apart from that everything was done in vanilla with command blocks and resource packs
