The build and test of a loop on the ground antenna for low-noise receiving on the lower amateur bands. This is a design by KK5JY and the full technical details can be found at KK5JY.NET

The idea behind the design is to have a low noise receive antenna when working what can be very noisy low frequency amateur bands. Transmitting on the main antenna while receiving on the ground loop.

The Fair-Rite binocular ferrite core can be sourced at Mouser (No. 623-2873000202). Also at Qubits in the UK (radio-store.co.uk/). Beware p&p costs!

Ferrite Toroid 73 Multi-Aperture Z=1250 Ohms @ 10MHz.
