This is the second podcast in a new series introducing the concept of Configuration Management (CM), explaining that it is a systematic method for ensuring the consistency of a system's attributes throughout its lifecycle by identifying and tracking every component, version, and dependency.

In this video we provide an overview of the Planning phase that occurs after initial requirements are gathered.

The central focus is on defining the architecture and making critical technical decisions before any code is written, emphasizing that most systems do not operate in isolation.

We cover the need to define technical requirements, such as data storage, hardware needs, and necessary programming tools, which augment the initial user requirements. This phase also involves creating time-boxes (sprints or phases) by grouping atomic requirements to organize the development order and establishing a project plan timeline that tracks progress, ideally with developer input.

Ultimately, the planning phase solidifies the technical foundation and prepares the project for the upcoming development phase.
