In this week’s #fridaysews are the two finished cushions made for my son Geore and his girlfriend Dani. These have been made primarily from scraps. I bought the orange fabric in December and have been working on constructing these cushions by making up my 3 and half inch squares. I love how these little squares make such unique designs.
Unfortunately, this week there hasn’t been much sewing as I’ve had to do the dreaded tax return. Thankfully that has now been successfully submitted and I can get back to sewing and concentrating on new projects for the new year.
Saying that, I have made a toile for the Vogue dress V1336, my no 2 of my Make Nine 2024.
I thought I’d like to introduce you to Myrtle. Myrtle is my dressmaing dummy and she’s not a happy bunny at the moment. I’ve own her for over 40 years and I was going to dispose of her and buy myself a new one, but I realised that even if I bought a new dummy it still wouldn’t be a true image of my body and would need padding out.
I subscribed to Craftsy in November last year as I wanted to make a moulage and Suzy Furrer’s name cropped up whilst researching this, and she offers, through Craftsy, an excellent three-part tutorial on how to measure yourself for a moulage. Now I did start it, but God knows why, it got put in the WIP box and forgotten. But I’m resurrecting it as I want my dressmaker’s dummy to be useful again rather than something I just through fabric over!
No purchases this week, this was filmed in January and I do my no-spend on anything month, just to reset my spending compass and make myself use what I have.
