What Am I Wearing? - Butterick B5526, version E without the ruffles. This is a princess seam shirt with a mandarin collar. This shirt is 2 years old and still a favourite. Made in cotton lawn, my favourite shirt fabric to sew.
What Am I Making? - Simplicity S1538 version D without breast pockets. I might add the pockets at the end. I'll see how I feel! Though I've made this shirt probably a dozen times before, I've never made version D. This version's sleeves are gathered into a thin sleeve band. It's quite pretty. This pattern asks for 1.8m of fabric by 150cm (I'm a 44" bust). I've used this gorgeous paisley cotton lawn from Stitch Fabrics, one of my favourite fabric suppliers. The fabric's called Paisley Princess 2.
Goodies Received - My month 5 Queen of Diamond fabric parcel. This is an 'English Paper Piece' subscription. I love handsewing and this subscription runs over the year and is paced nicely, so you don't feel rushed. This is my first bed quilt so I'm behaving myself and following the instructions as set out in the manual provided as part of the subscription. In the video I quickly show you how paper piecing works. Next week you'll see the finished blocks for this month.
Purchases Made - (1) Luna Lapin book to make a new friend for Daisy. (2) Acrylic felt, grey and bright green, for a new needles case.
After spending time in Swanage this week celebrating my 32nd wedding anniversary I'm itching to get back in my sewing room. I've a busy work week but I'm sure to have a project or two finished for you to see next week.
