Game: Beethoven: The Ultimate Canine Caper
System: Super Nintendo
Version: (US)

This is the longplay of the game Beethoven: The Ultimate Canine Caper (also known as Beethoven's 2nd or Beethoven), a platform game developed by american studio Riedel Software Productions and published by Hi Tech Expressions for the Super Nintendo, Game Boy and MS-DOS. This is the Super Nintendo version, released in December 1993 in the United States and Europe.

In the game, we control Beethoven, a dog that stars in a series of family comedy films with animals, which were quite famous in the 90s. The game is based on the film "Beethoven's 2nd", which is a sequel to the 1992 film "Beethoven", about a St. Bernard dog named Beethoven and his adventures with his human family.

The object of the game is to control Beethoven and help him save his babies. The game features multiple levels, each with its own theme and obstacles, including busy streets, parks, lakes, and houses, as well as enemies such as cats, mice, bats, and malicious people who try to stop Beethoven from rescuing his young. To defend himself, Beethoven can bark (emitting a short-range wave, but which can be charged by holding the button for a few seconds to reach greater distance) or shoot water at enemies after getting wet (this attack hits almost the entire screen, but needs be fired quickly before the dog dries off).

In addition, there are several power-ups in the form of food scattered throughout the levels that help Beethoven gain more health or extra lives. Each level has two stages: the first is to rescue the baby at the end of the level and the second is to carry the baby in her mouth to the end, where Missy (Beethoven's companion and mother of the babies) waits.

The game is relatively complicated, the level design has problems in several parts and in the second stage of each stage it is necessary to release the puppy, fight the enemies and continue the walk. Controls are slightly imprecise and button response can be sluggish, making the game even more difficult. The soundtrack includes classic songs by Beethoven (the composer), in simple arrangements.

In general, "Beethoven - The Ultimate Canine Caper" is an extremely simple game and without anything epic, which is perhaps only worth the nostalgic appeal for fans of the film. I hope you enjoy the video.
