Long run with me in the Endorphin Speed 5. Beaded Peba and a redesigned (but still winged) nylon plate are the headline tech specs for this shoe. I’d heard rumblings that this should would be like an Endorphin Speed 3, but to me it reminded me of last year’s Endorphin Speed 4. And that’s a good thing as I thought that shoe was excellent (so excellent that I thought it was a problem for the Endorphin Pro 4).
I do think the foam has firmed up a bit, especially in the heel. But I think for faster runs, everything tightening up a bit could be quite nice. I’ll need to get in some speedwork miles to really get a feel for what this shoe is capable of. But so far, this year feels like a mild update for a shoe that I didn’t think needed much changing.
It’s cooler this week than last week, but it’s still hot enough. And it’s still humid enough. I definitely didn’t bring enough fluid for this run and I overheated. I don’t love marathon training in the summer.
