Designed by Laddie Mikulasko, this RC model of the SR-71 Blackbird is a quick and easy 693 mm span (1:24 scale) electric sport scale build from the CAD drawn single large plan sheet.
The amazing high altitude Mach 3+ SR-71 Blackbird still holds the world record for the fastest air-breathing (not rocket) propelled manned aircraft. Used primarily for strategic reconnaissance by the US Air Force, it could simply outrun missile threats and none have been lost to enemy action.
The model is of all Depron construction with some balsa and spruce strip, and uses an economical BL2212/06 2200KV motor, 40 Amp ESC and 3S 3000 LiPo with a 6"x4". APC-E prop. It is 50" long, weighs 16-20 oz. and is a delight to fly!
