To mark the fifth anniversary of lockdown, volunteers hit the streets of East London to ask whether we had given up our freedom too easily. Was lockdown a big mistake? Did the police abuse their power? Some wise words from the public should help ensure we don’t forget the disastrous consequence of giving up our liberty, the fear and distrust which not only failed to protect the vulnerable but ensured loved ones died alone. A younger generation needs to know too, how far Lockdown measures shut down life, from the taping off of benches to hunting down dog walkers to preventing children playing.
