A glorious late autumn morning played the backdrop for the outbound run of the Xmas Cheshirman from Bristol to Chester. LMS Jubilee class 45596 Bahamas would be given the honour of hauling the outbound leg and is seen making a memorable passage through Hencote on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.
For the return leg 6233 Duchess Of Sutherland would head the train south and the whole run would be in the darkness so we were limited to station shots only. It seemed the news of the impending passage of a steam train through multiple sleepy Shropshire railway stations had spread and the locals were out in force from the edge of north wales right down to into Shropshire, there were crowds bordering along the lines of Scotsman fever ! We even had to scrap one of our shots at Gobowen due to unruly attendees !
All night shot locations are stated in the video. The night scenes are not edited very well due to a lot of cutting out due to platform noise so they'll be showcased one after the other with very little build up but you will still get the usual atmospheric nocturnal shots which everyone seems to like.
Its been nine weeks since we've last filmed any mainline steam. This is due to multiple tours being cancelled due to low bookings and continuous strike action by railway employees. As We're now into the build up towards Christmas there should be a good helping of steam action to get our teeth into in the coming weeks.
