Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is one of the youngest and most liveable capitals in the European Union. It has a 5,000-year-long and fascinating history including the remains of the Roman city of Emona and the old city centre with its medieval castle. It’s a city with a medieval heart, a city of the Baroque and Art Nouveau, with numerous picturesque bridges. The city has a handful of museums, art galleries, festivals, a theatre, a bustling market, and a hilltop castle.
