Transcription
[Ellie]: So I noticed that my playings getting better because of what Im doing with her. In other words, my movement, where Im going, what I can learn, how to prepare for that group is all improving - all of it!
[Peter]: She not only tells you how you can do things, but she also explains to you why the things work the way they work.
[Randy]: You know if you wanted to learn well, Id say go with Ari.
[Daniel]: You know she starts off each lesson with exercises that relate to Theory, whether its scales or the Pattern System or just learning to strengthen the muscles in our fingers. So I do like that combination of theory and application.
[Randy]: The structure of the of the bass - the way the bass is tuned and laid out on the fretboard and I knew there was a pattern but the way all these patterns break down and they interlock with each other... I was just thinking earlier tonight, man this this is really starting to make a lot more sense now.
[Ellie]:Okay, so shell do a drill and then translates what weve just drilled into a piece of music. So that when I pick up the bass its ahhh yeah, theres this thread that just brings it all together. This is phenomenal teaching! This for me, is exceptional teaching!
[Peter]: Its nice to have a structure to your practice because sometimes you know you can pick up the instrument and noodle with it without any particular purpose but the her sessions, they give you a structure so you can see where you were and where youre going to and youve got to make the steps and its very helpful.
[Randy]: All the pieces of the puzzle but now I know what the puzzle is. When I found Ari - this is the person Ive been looking for to teach me.
[Peter]: I feel much more comfortable and understanding, oh here is the root note, here is the fifth, here is the pentatonic scale, and I also understand why songs are structured the way theyre structured or the bass lines are structured the way theyre structured and its super helpful when youre learning covers or trying to write your own stuff.
[Ellie]: So I feel like when I build this foundation Im gonna be able to be free to just express and have this music and what I want to say come through my heart.
[Daniel]: Just her style of teaching is really, really accessible to anybody - on any level of music. I dont play with a group at this point. I do it for joy and it really generates joy for me I think thats worth it right there. Your stomach needs to be fed, but so does your soul and I feel like the best way to say it is that music feeds my soul and playing an instrument feeds my soul.
[Randy]: You couldnt ask for a better. Its been a thoroughly enjoyable experience worth every penny.
