The United Nations Security Council is meeting in New York City , to discuss the situation in the Middle East, especially regarding Syria’s militant-held Damascus suburb of Eastern Ghouta.
The meeting was called by the Russian UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia on Wednesday. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had already described the situation for the 400,000 people in the embattled Syrian enclave as “hell on earth”, calling for an immediate suspension of all military activities in the area.
