The very proud owner of a 3rd Gen Togepi. This is quite possibly my most prized shiny & one of the most obscure shinies in 3rd Gen due to the way you need to hunt it. It’s either full odds Emerald hatching or this hunt, realistically. It is available in FireRed/LeafGreen but with no FlameBody to speed up eggs it’s not really worth it.
I’ve had these e-Reader cards for a while now and I’ve wanted to hunt these Shadow Pokemon which I will complete soon, hopefully. They’re quite obscure but you can get on auction sites if you want to. They’re exclusive to the Japanese copy though I do believe you can perform magic with an Action Replay to get these in a non-Japanese copy though according to some reports I’ve read, there is a tendency to cause Bag Eggs & even corrupt save files due to the incomplete translations so just keep that into account.
The Togepi is locked as Sassy nature and has 0 in all IVs. I believe these Pokemon were just simple ways of completing the Dex though it’s possible that they were given beneficial natures to aid in breeding in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen. Sassy is the best nature for Togetic in 3rd Generation so I lean towards this more than anything. Either way, it’s a super cool feature and I’m really happy to have one of these boxed off. Next up is probably Mareep!
*Edit - They are actually sufferers of the same glitch attributed to the Roamers in FireRed/LeafGreen/Ruby/Sapphire in which their IVs are lower due to a memory write issue. Another team member joins the ranks! Shiny Stunky was my 2nd target here though I didnt really expect to get it. Bronzor was 55% so there was essentially a coin flip chance to phase. You cant complain at picking up a Diamond exclusive Pokemon.
The encounter rate in Wayward Cave with Mira is awful, truly awful. If you dont believe me, try it yourself with an Illuminate Pokemon leading. I was doing almost a third more just single hunting in the grass.
Hopefully Bronzor will shine next (spoiler, I got it next phase)!

Another Island Scan hunt completed first phase! Marshtomp is ~70% with a repel trick. Grovyle, Marshtomp and now Combusken will complete the trio.
Ive been hunting these next to my Roamer Latias in Sapphire hunt and theyre working great as Gen 7 encounters take so long. Its really nice to hunt in these games again as I love the Alola region and a ton of the Pokemon available.

Shiny Steelix finally appeared after a very long hunt. I took a break for about two weeks to hunt the Roaming Birds in Platinum and it shined upon returning to it within 48 hours! It looks so, so good in this game. I’ve always found its Sinnoh sprite to look a little awkward but once I saw some other hunters like ShinyTwins178, JCBLPs & Alpha Zapdos hunt theirs in this area, I was convinced to add it to my DTQ.
It still blows my mind in 2019 that Steelix is even found in the wild. I grew up playing Kanto and Johto so when Steelix was in the wild in Sinnoh and HG/SS, I was so captivated by finding item evolutions like this. It’s probably nothing really out of the ordinary for many hunters these days but you had to be there man… you had to be there.
This is the third member of my Heart Gold Dream Team Quest file. Next up is Miltank which is very close to the area I was hunting on Route 39 with a repel trick making it 48%. I don’t know when I’ll get around to hunting that though as I’m getting very close to my 100th shiny special. This was my 97th full odds shiny caught so I’m getting close!

Shiny Roaming Suicune after only 1,119 seen. Absolutely crazy. My luck has done a complete 180 since last month when I went almost 50k without seeing a shiny. Manaphy, Articuno & now Suicune in quick succession. I really hope I can carry on with some good luck to finish 2020 off because my luck has been junk this year overall.
This sprite is gorgeous. It genuinely looks like an Ice-type when shiny in this generation. The sprite difference from Crystal is subtle but I really like how it looks in Gold/Silver. Very beautiful shiny. This is Roamer number 14 for my Roamer Quest, with only three left to obtain at this point.

Shiny Roaming Articuno after a decently quick 2,014 SRs in Platinum to complete the trio. I started my Roamer Quest with Zapdos so I had initially planned to hunt Articuno as the last but I just felt compelled to hunt it recently. Seeing the trio left unfinished for so long just spurred me on to finish them. Its a beautiful shiny, bright ice white with an amazing sprite in Platinum. I really love Platinum so to complete this trio is really amazing. I was memorised when they were roamers in my initial playthrough and I knew that someday Id want to hunt them.
The Legendary Birds are some of my favourite Pokemon and Articuno to me is the prime example of a shiny not needing a drastic change to be a beautiful shiny. Id love to hunt this in both Gen 2 & 3 one day too so I can admire the sprite differences.
Roamer #12 obtained which is incredible. I still cant believe I only have 5 left as of making this video. Im not sure whats next as I need to repair a HDMI adapter for my Gamecube so Gen 2 perhaps if I get it back in time. Who knows.

My good luck came to an abrupt and long-winded end but I finally got my shiny Lileep after 34,722 SRs for my Ruby Dream Team Quest. The green is super vibrant and this is for sure one of my favourite Pokemon ever so Im so happy he finally shined. It looks great in Pokemon Colosseum/XD Gale of Darkness too!
I really dont have the best Fossil luck, at all. My average for three Fossil hunts is 31,000 resets which is just... wow. I really need to stop saying I dont like summary screen hunts because it always curses me.

The second member of my Water monotype challenge of Sapphire shines after 6,720 REs! Shiny Peecko joins Mudkip in being underodds. Every hunt on this file has so far been underodds so long may that continue please.
I found a shiny Wingull in Platinum a number of years ago so its nice to have one in its original generation. I was quite surprised how much the colour of the body stood out to me more than the green. I went into this hunt fully focused on the green wings though that wasnt what caught my eye.
A really cute shiny and a classic Hoenn Pokemon added to my collection.

Shiny Shadow Mareep after 23,288 SRs! I cant buy an under odds Colosseum hunt or even one close to odds at the moment. I genuinely thought I was doing this hunt wrong at one point.
Mareep is such a classic shiny isnt it? The pink is super vibrant in Colosseum and I think this was a really unique and interesting way to hunt it. Here is hoping I get an underodds Colosseum hunt soon enough!
The IVs are all 0, the nature is set to Mild.
