My orange-yellow baby mouse finally appeared after 4 phases (two Yungoose and a Grubbin). This was such a tough hunt to keep on doing because all I wanted to do for the most part was play the games! I'm really glad I didn't just quit though as I'm really enjoying playing through with this on my team.
The Ash's distribution cartridge isn't one that's overly exciting but I thought I'd put my own twist on this hunt by doing this and showing you what really were the origins of the Pikachu Hat events in Gen VII.

A surprise 15% encounter while hunting Shellder. Shiny Gyarados appeared after 11,040 encounters while fishing for my 40% target. Gyarados is quite a nice find in Gen 3 as its only a 15% encounter in the wild. It also has a very nice orange hue to it instead of the bright red in Gen 4. I started this hunt hoping that Id find one so to actually do so, Im delighted!
Im already deep into phase 2 for Shellder so lets hope that doesnt too long to finalise my Dream Team Quest.

Safari Week 2020 was super fun. It was a mixed bag overall. In total I did 108,650 random encounters, finding 12 shinies overall meaning I had an average of 9,054. The first part of the week seemed like I was going to have the mother of all Safari Weeks but two bad droughts pushed my average up (and motivation down if Im honest). Still, to find 12 shinies in 1 week is pretty insane so Im very happy with my haul. Im gutted about that Venomoth but I will be back here in the future to try and see the elusive Shiny Chansey in 3rd Gen!

My first of what will hopefully be many, many Gamecube shinies. I have a plethora of targets planned for both Pokémon Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness. Delighted to finally get off the mark with my first Gamecube shiny.
This was my 2nd target in this area. Its been a long time since I played this game so Im going to enjoy playing through with a shiny. I wanted either Donphan or Jumpluff as Masquerain isnt overly viable in the 3rd Gen games. Im very happy that Hoppip decided to shine. It looks incredible in the 3D models.
I originally started this hunt way back in January 2018 but took a break at 500 or so to focus on Roaming Suicune in FireRed/LeafGreen. I returned to it this summer but opted to take another break while I upgraded my Gamecube recording ability. I record on a region-free Gamecube with a HD adapter, which wasnt cheap. If youre interested in it at all it is the GCHD MK II adapter which takes advantage of the native 480p from the digital port in first-gen Gamecube models (DOL-001).

Shiny Piplup appears shortly before odds and just the one uncatchable Starly! You really cant complain at that at all. I started hunting this on release day and it decided to shine a little under two weeks later. Im really happy to be able to play the new games with a shiny starter. I cant tell you how much I disliked Sword and Shield for locking the starters. This is justice.
I was choosing batches of 10 and then moving on to the next starter. Ive never hunted like that before and it was really fun and absolutely kept the hunt fresh.
Next up is something in Eterna Forest which sounds super busted with 2 encounters with 1/4096 odds. Excited!

My fifth member of my Dream Team appears after 12,611. Im really happy with this shiny and its a little nostalgic as it was a member of my original Black play through. Chandelure is an incredible shiny and I cant wait to evolve it.
This hunt is a little annoying as you cant use the bike so encounters do feel a little slow at times. Illuminate does help of course but the encounter rate at base is slower.
This file has been very up and down in terms of luck as it has an average of 15,000 encounters per shiny at this rate which is insanely unlucky. Im excited for Deino though as thats my next target.

Back to back super quick hunts! You cant complain at that. My luck has done a complete 180 and Im loving it. Phase 1 for Deino is complete with a nice shiny Durant to join my collection.
Always had a soft spot for Durant. I wish you could get it earlier in the game (you can in BW2) because I would use this on my team. I used to keep ants when I was a kid so I like it a lot. Nice rusty shiny design too!

Shiny Latios after 11,966 soft resets to complete the HeartGold/SoulSilver Roamers. It feels incredible to be able to say that. It seems only yesterday I was hunting Entei to start these off and yet here we are. I say in the video but its a bittersweet moment to complete them in these games. I really enjoyed hunting them.
This shiny is so beautiful. The minty-green is just amazing and I think its comfortably sat in among my top 10 shinies of all time. All Roamers have beautiful shinies but this is up there for sure.
I really enjoyed this hunt looking back but I wont deny that I found it hard at times. The method shown was first shown I believe in this video; https://youtu.be/gF7msPdgZcw by a Japanese Shiny Hunter named soooooonansuka on Twitter. It was then shown by BeatingBros and RavenGoingUp. I think there may be one or two more but I cant find them. This method has one big disadvantage in my opinion & from my experience in that its difficult to hunt something next to it. It requires a lot of attention. Its plausible that its just simply how my brain works but the method I used for Latias allowed me to hunt other things at the side. This is vital for me to keep focused and motivated. It might not be to others and this is just my experience. Im not saying this is right or wrong but experiment, try both, see what you think.
Around 8,000 I took a break from hunting but came back full of motivation to claim this beautiful shiny as my own. Im so happy to have him in my collection.
