Hey folks, this is not one of my more "major uploads" but I thought some of you music fans could appreciate some live jazz :P
Basically our Highschool hosted an open mic coffee house and I decided to bring in some recording gear and get some live takes of some of the performers.
These guys are a 4-piece jazz band called The Marmalades, the song is an unnamed original jam piece.
We only had 3 hours to clear out the cafeteria and get everything set up, not to mention a lot of our equipment (including most drum kit pieces) weren't able to be located until about an hour before the show started.
Unfortunately we didn't have time for sound check and we had no idea if the sax clip-on mic would work or not... which it didn't :\
But all in all, a pretty good event. This was my first time partially tech'ing a live gig let alone record one so any constructive criticism would be super-appreciated for making even better live recordings in the future! :)

Recording notes:
- Drums mic'ed using the "recorderman technique" with 2 AKG D5's.
- Piano ran straight into my laptop with a MIDI to USB converter cable and then used a piano synth from Cubase's Halion Sonic SE.
- Bass amp mic'ed using a single SM58 mic.
- Saxophone at the end used a single SM58.
- Audio interface (A/D converter) - Mackie Onyx 1220 running firewire into my laptop and recorded in Cubase.
- Additional mixing and mastering done in Cubase.
