A moratorium on the use of artificial intelligence in city public schools — from 2-K through eighth grade — will be in effect through the end of the coming school year, city officials announced Wednesday.

The broad new policy comes about a week before students return to the classroom and also includes both screen time restrictions for younger students and AI critical-thinking modules for high schoolers.
