🔴 **LIVE LUNAR ECLIPSE FROM CENTRAL TEXAS | WATCH THE MOON TURN RED THROUGH REAL TELESCOPES**
Join me LIVE from the backyard observatory in Central Texas on **Thursday, August 27, 2026** as Earth’s shadow moves across the Moon during one of the deepest partial lunar eclipses in years.
At maximum eclipse, an incredible **96.3% of the Moon’s disk will be inside Earth’s dark umbral shadow**. Only a thin 4% sliver remains in full sunlight, creating a dramatic view that will look very different from an ordinary full Moon.
I’ll be tracking the entire eclipse through real telescopes and cameras, explaining exactly what you are seeing as the Moon first enters Earth’s faint penumbra and then moves deep into the umbra.
🌕 **LUNAR ECLIPSE TIMES, CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME**
**8:23 PM CDT** | Penumbral eclipse begins
The Moon begins entering Earth’s outer shadow. The change will be very subtle at first.
**9:33 PM CDT** | Umbral eclipse begins
This is when the obvious dark “bite” begins appearing on the Moon.
**11:12 PM CDT** | GREATEST ECLIPSE
About **96.3% of the lunar disk** will be inside Earth’s umbra.
**12:51 AM CDT** | Umbral eclipse ends
The dark central shadow finally leaves the Moon.
Eclipse details:
**Umbral magnitude:** 0.9319
**Saros:** 138
This is also the **final partial lunar eclipse of Saros 138**. Beginning with the September 2044 eclipse, subsequent eclipses in this series become total lunar eclipses.
☀️ **ALSO WATCHING THE SUN**
There is another interesting space-weather story developing at almost the same time.
We’ll look at the recent sequence of **M-class solar flares**, elevated energetic proton levels, and a **CME expected to reach the vicinity of Earth around August 28–29**.
There are plenty of dramatic claims being made online about eclipses, solar storms, earthquakes and volcanoes. During the LIVE stream, we’ll separate **what we can actually measure and observe from what is being claimed**.
