Welcome to part twenty two in this series of videos in which I take the advice of all of those Christian fundamentalists and read my bible - literally
You see if you are going to believe in the literal "truth" of the bible and take it literally then literally is the only way that you can read it.
In this episode the Lord has yet another job for Abraham.
The Lord wants to know Abrahams mind -- in the biblical sense rather than the literal one -- so he sends him off to the top of a faraway mountain and instructs him to kill his one and only son Isaac, presumably forgetting about Ismael
Well as you can expect things are not as they seem and the Lord turns up in the nick of time but the whole adventure raises to very interesting questions.
What could an all knowing deity possibly find out about Abraham that he already doesn't know and if he already knew what he wanted to find out and he knew Abraham would go through with it, why would he need to ask Abraham to do it anyway.
