While the world is rushing around, our rescued big cats are enjoying a well-deserved lie-in from the comfort of their cosy beds. 🌳
And honestly... who can blame them? Autumn is creeping in and its officially sleepy season.
Did you know lions can snooze for up to 20 hours a day? Tigers, leopards and jaguars arent far behind, often spending between 12 and 20 hours sleeping depending on their activity levels and food availability in the wild. 🌄

Behind the cute puppy posts, the misery: undercover investigation in Bulgaria 📣
➡️ Puppies like Bella are being bred in conditions far from meeting basic welfare standards, only to be illegally trafficked on social media!
In the past months, FOUR PAWS have investigated numerous suspicious dog advertising posts coming from Bulgaria. 📲
Hiding in plain sight in Facebook groups, unscrupulous sellers have developed techniques to trick unknowing users and to bypass platform rules. Posing as curious customers, only a few DMs led us to uncover a large-scale online dog trade, widely spread across Europe. 🌍
🔎 Eleven sellers were visited by undercover investigators, and what they found on-site exceeded our worst expectations: from questionable to sometimes dire conditions, few-week-old puppies like Bella are being shipped across the continent, very often without the required identification and vaccination.
❌ This gruesome trade is only enabled by Meta’s inaction against it.

Tim has suffered long enough.
Tim was born in 2003 and ever since he was just a tiny cub, he has been kept in poor conditions at the private Zoo park Rožman in Slovenia. Although FOUR PAWS is offering Mr. Rožmanec to rescue bear Tim since 2022, he still has no chance to live a species-appropriate life— unless we speak up. 🔊
Let’s show together that the world is watching, and that Tim deserves a fresh start.
At our beautiful BEAR SANCTUARY Arbesbach in Austria, Tim could finally enjoy space and proper care. Yet his owner, Mr. Rožmanec, continues to refuse to voluntarily hand Tim over to us — claiming Tim is doing well.
But is Tim really doing well at Zoo park Rožman?
We visited Tim in 2022. In 2023, we were denied access. Since 2024, Zoo park Rožman has no valid license to operate as a zoo, and the facility is closed to visitors. What is Tim’s life like behind those closed gates?
Meanwhile, Felix and Mici, two other bears rescued in 2025, are now thriving at our sanctuary.
Tim could finally thrive too — if given the chance.
Mr. Rožmanec, Tim deserves a better life.
Slovenia deserves better for its wildlife. 🐾

As a cub, Tyson was cruelly torn from his mother and spent 16 years trapped in a filthy cage at a remote hunting station in western Ukraine, where he was likely used illegally as bait. 💔
Then, in October 2017, Tyson’s second chance finally arrived. After tireless negotiations, our team rescued Tyson and brought him to the safe haven of BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr. 🌳
Today, Tyson is thriving. He’s healthy, happy, and living the peaceful life he always deserved, side by side with his best friend, Mashutka. 🐻
Now, summer days look very different for Tyson, spent lounging beneath the trees and splashing happily in his pool. He’s got a great appetite and a love for peanuts, tomatoes, and apples, simple joys that mean everything after years of hardship. 🍏

Hibernation season has officially begun end of November at BEAR SANCTUARY Müritz 🐻💤
After not seeing Michal for several days, he has claimed the title of first bear in hibernation for himself. 📅
It seems that Michal has retreated into the artificial den, which he likely chose as his favourite cosy spot for the winter. ❄️
