As a cub, Tyson was cruelly torn from his mother and spent 16 years trapped in a filthy cage at a remote hunting station in western Ukraine, where he was likely used illegally as bait. 💔
Then, in October 2017, Tyson’s second chance finally arrived. After tireless negotiations, our team rescued Tyson and brought him to the safe haven of BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr. 🌳
Today, Tyson is thriving. He’s healthy, happy, and living the peaceful life he always deserved, side by side with his best friend, Mashutka. 🐻
Now, summer days look very different for Tyson, spent lounging beneath the trees and splashing happily in his pool. He’s got a great appetite and a love for peanuts, tomatoes, and apples, simple joys that mean everything after years of hardship. 🍏

Hibernation season has officially begun end of November at BEAR SANCTUARY Müritz 🐻💤
After not seeing Michal for several days, he has claimed the title of first bear in hibernation for himself. 📅
It seems that Michal has retreated into the artificial den, which he likely chose as his favourite cosy spot for the winter. ❄️

When the enrichment hits so hard you become a fashion icon. 👒
This playful queen spent the early part of her life surrounded by the harsh reality of the circus industry, where wild animals are exploited for human entertainment. 💔🦁
After being rescued from a trainer that sold wild animals to circuses, Nala’s journey eventually brought her to our @LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary. 🌄
She now enjoys the simple joys she deserves, from boxes and teddy bears to creating her own lioness-approved accessories.
The tongue-out and camera eye contact at the end? 10/10 commitment to the pose. 👅

Why are the bear dens at Arosa Bear Sanctuary so small? 🐻❄️
A great question that came up in one of our recent updates — and Arosa’s scientific director has the perfect explanation:
It’s all about what’s best for the bears.
Here’s what you need to know:
🔹 The dens measure 2 × 1 × 1 meters — just the right size for two brown bears to stretch out comfortably. 💤
🔹 In the wild, bears actually choose tiny dens for hibernation.
Why? Smaller spaces retain heat better, which means less energy lost and more energy saved throughout the winter. 🌨
🔹 Our prefabricated dens are insulated, windproof, and dry — designed to help the bears get through the cold season using as little energy as possible.
🐾 From an animal caretaker’s perspective, we’d love to offer them more room.
But from the bears’ perspective? A larger den would actually make winter survival harder.
And after eight years of observing them, the bears have made it clear:
These dens are exactly what they need. ✔️

Beirut, Lebanon: a bond so strong nothing could destroy it.
Kaseem’s whole life changed when his home was bombed and he had to be rushed to the hospital. There, he fell into a deep coma from his injuries.
Only his two cats remained in the rubble. Knowing how much their son cared for them, Kaseem’s parents called Animals Lebanon for help. The team searched and searched the rubble and finally rescued Caramel and Meshmosh from what was left of the house. The team brought the two confused pets to the safety of their shelter, where they received food and a veterinary check, which thankfully showed they were unharmed. 🐈🐈
But as Caramel welcomed the reassuring cuddles, his brother Meshmosh remained distant and scared, seemingly missing his home… 💔
In the meantime, Kaseem, who had to undergo multiple surgeries, was starting to recover. When he finally woke up from his coma, one of the first things he asked was if his two cats had been saved too.
And then one morning, still under close medical care and despite remaining partially paralysed, Kaseem gathered his strength and family to visit Animals Lebanon.
Timid at first, Meshmosh and Caramel quickly realised who had come back for them.
And just like that, Meshmosh jumped into the arms he had been missing all along. ❤️🩹
Everyone in the room stayed quiet as they witnessed the heartwarming reunion of a young man and his two dear friends he feared he had lost forever.
Kaseem’s story is a powerful reminder that the wars impact did not end with the ceasefire. Families are still rebuilding their lives, and many still cant return home with the animals they love.
FOUR PAWS and Animals Lebanon stand together to ensure that Caramel, Meshmosh and many others, remain safe, healthy, and ready to reunite with their families when the day comes.
