“My mom was the ‘cool mom.’ She was potty mouth, cigarette-smokin’, cocktail-drinkin’, but the most relatable, warm-hearted person that most people have ever met.
There were times when I was younger that I wished I had a ‘normal mom,’ but now I look back and I’m like, ‘God, I had the coolest mom.’ I wish I would have appreciated it more when I could have.
We were watching Garfield because we were making lasagna and we were like, ‘Oh, we should watch Garfield.’ My dad called and he’s like, ‘They just took Mom in an ambulance,’ and I never heard his voice sound like that, and that was the first moment of my new life. And I didn’t know what to do and I had this little baby to take care of.
As a new mother, losing your mother, there’s a whole extra layer to deal with. So when I found out I was pregnant again, I had a dream that my mom was like, ‘I’m sending you a girl, she’s gonna be a virgo, and don’t worry because virgos are badass.’ From that moment on, I knew that Luna was gonna be that friendship and bond that I had as a mother and daughter with my mom.”
